DISTANT, YET OBTRUSIVE

DISTANT, YET OBTRUSIVE (3:21) is a short film about how sound enters our world and affects us.

Written and Directed by Kyle Licht, the film is about a young man (Licht) in his dismal campus bedroom, listening to the sounds that surround him.  The sounds from inside and outside his room, envelop his reality.

Sounds resembling gunshots capture his attention.  After questioning the noises, he realizes there maybe a school shooting across campus.

With no visual perspective of events, his imagination is vivid.  The ceiling fan becomes helicopters overhead.  Wind blowing through the shades add another dimension to his experience.

His only context is noise.  He has no visual perspective of what’s happening, nor does he want one.

DISTANT, YET OBTRUSIVE is a film that reminds us the power of sound and how we process it into our being.
