FAMILY REWRITTEN

FAMILY REWRITTEN is part of an Award Winning collection of three shorts – Foster Care Film Vol 1 Collection.

Despite battling Cystic Fibrosis, Camilla, age 16, is  identified as a typical middle-class American teenager – until the thread that held her family together suddenly snapped.

Just months before her 18th birthday, Camilla found herself in foster care – but instead of feeling ashamed, she made a conscious decision to not let the situation definer her.

A POWERFUL short film by Yasmin Mistry, this film tells of the trials and tribulations of a young girl against all odds.

Beautifully told by Camilla Tecsy, whose presence on camera speaks far beyond her years, Camilla’s determination not to be ashamed to ask for help is a lesson we all can learn from.  Camilla takes you on an honest and difficult journey of her troubled life at home.

An alcoholic father and a mother who loses her job, Camilla is unable to eat, let alone take care of her Cystic Fibrosis.

Visually capturing each emotion through stunning cinematography and art work, this story is captivating from beginning to end.

So much stigma surrounds the words “foster care” and this film shows how beautiful it can be to rewrite a broken family – into a loving one.

Blood lines don’t always need to be there to feel like family.  The word family reveals itself when people give of themselves unconditionally.
